The Stripefin poacher〔(Common names for ''Xeneretmus ritteri'' ) at www.fishbase.org.〕 (''Xeneretmus ritteri'') is a fish in the family Agonidae (poachers).〔(''Xeneretmus ritteri'' ) at www.fishbase.org.〕 It was described by Charles Henry Gilbert in 1915.〔Gilbert, C. H. 1915 (28 Jan.) (1632 ) ''Fishes collected by the United States Fisheries steamer "Albatross" in southern California in 1904.'' Proceedings of the United States National Museum v. 48 (no. 2075): 305-380, Pls. 14-22.〕 It is a marine, deep water-dwelling fish which is known from the eastern central Pacific Ocean, including southern California, USA; Baja California, Mexico; and an isolated population in the Gulf of California. It dwells at a depth range of 183-366 metres, and inhabits soft benthic sediments.
